May 4th, 2007 we were excited to learn that The Today Show featured a Zulu Telephone Wire Basket from South Africa! On the segment entitled "Where in the World is Matt Lauer", as a wrap up from his journey to Cape Town, he presented a basket to one of his co-hosts as a gift. Imagine our surprise when the basket featured was immediately recognizable as being created by the weaving group we've been working with in Zululand, South Africa for the past 5 years. We've helped the group grow from 80 part time weavers to over 600 full time weavers. From the color combination, shape, size and even the special "skip stitch" invented by our weavers ... it was exactly one of our shallow bowls!
